SASA Members' Exhibition 2009
Kirstenbosch Gardens
30th May - 7th June, 2009
Despite the pouring rain and freezing temperatures, we had a magnificent turnout for the opening of our 2009 Members Exhibition. Lynn Brown gave a short speech of thanks to all involved with the huge task of the setting up of the exhibition and introduced Jill Joubert, Head of the Frank Joubert Art Centre in Newlands.
Jill gave an incredible opening speech in the form of a story about an Artist in a small South African Village. The story was highlighted with the opening of 'presents' containing clay statues and puppets. The audience were spell bound as she weaved her web of intrigue. It was a truly memorable opening, with a deep insight into the heart of an artist that only another artist can truly understand.
Thank you so much Jill, your students are indeed privileged. If anyone is interested in the art taught at the School, their outreach or adult programs you can access further information on their website: http://www.frankjoubertartcentre.co.za
